Started playing guitar in 1993 and has always been involved in many musical projects playing rock, blues, funk and jazz. In 2000 he moved to Pretoria to study music but was unable to complete due to his demand in the freelance music industry doing sessions and playing with various artists and bands doing gigs all over SA as well as the UK and Europe. One of the highlights being, playing at the Royal Albert Hall in London with South African Singer/Songwriter Nianell. He also has a very successful guitar school ‘Forte Music’ and lectured at St Albans College in Menlyn PTA. Between the gigs, sessions and teaching he spends his time working in his studio producing albums as well as jingles for radio and TV. Currently based in London as a freelance guitarist and he also contributes to Guitarist and Guitar Techniques magazines. Charl has just finished writing his first book “Forte Music, Guitar Course Vol. 1.” |
